March 23rd...VIENNA!
So, here we are in the Vienna airport, having missed our connecting flight due to bad weather at Heathrow in England...
The rest of the flight across the Atlantic was fine...except for whoever decided to FART every 20 minutes. I will admit to watching the end of "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2"...it helped me sleep. I also ended up catching 'Hitchcock', 'Judge Dredd', and 'Hotel Transylvania'.
When we disembarked, it was a literal mad dash from the gate, through security, and then huffing and puffing to the gate for the flight to Vienna. Heathrow is a LONG, WINDING maze of corridors that are very much "yes, I know that where you need to be is right there, but you can't get there from here."
Anyway, we made the flight to Vienna...YAY!
The flight was delayed due to weather and a parking problem when they landed...boo!
We missed the connecting flight to Florence by about 15 minutes...Boo!
There are no more flights to Florence from Vienna today...BOO!
However, the saint of an Austrian Airlines rep got us (get this) booked on a flight to Zurich, hotel for the night, and then an early morning flight to Florence...
We also got a voucher for lunch here in Vienna where I just had a goat cheese and salami sandwich TO DIE FOR.
Oh...and Mozart Balls!
So, we are delayed into Italy by a day...hopefully the travel gods have been appeased with our sweaty sacrifices so far and the rest of the trip will be much better...
...cue ominous music...now!
